About the Event

Bid N Code is an innovative coding competition that combines strategic bidding with programming skills. Participants start with a fixed amount of virtual currency to bid on coding challenges of varying difficulty levels. The challenges with higher difficulty offer more points but require more complex solutions.

This unique event tests not just your coding abilities but also your resource management and strategic thinking. Will you bid aggressively on the high-value problems, or spread your budget across multiple easier challenges? The decisions you make could be the difference between victory and defeat!

Competition Format

Bidding Mechanism

Each team starts with 1000 virtual coins.
Teams can bid on problems of varying difficulty levels (Easy, Medium, Hard).
Higher difficulty problems are worth more points but have tighter time constraints.
Bidding happens in rounds with each round featuring a set of problems to bid on.
The highest bidder gets exclusive access to solve the problem within the time limit.

Problem Solving

After winning a bid, the team must solve the problem within the assigned time limit.
Easy problems: 15 minutes | Medium problems: 25 minutes | Hard problems: 40 minutes
Successfully solving a problem earns the team points based on problem difficulty.
Failing to solve a problem results in the loss of the bid amount with no points awarded.
Teams can use any programming language supported by the competition platform.

Scoring System

Problem Points

Easy: 100 pts | Medium: 200 pts | Hard: 300 pts

Time Bonus

Additional points for solving problems faster (2 points per minute saved)

Efficiency Bonus

Up to 50 additional points for optimal solutions

Final Score

Problem Points + Time Bonus + Efficiency Bonus + Remaining Coins/10

Registration fee: ₹300 per team

How does the bidding process work?

In each bidding round, multiple problem statements are presented with their difficulty levels. Teams analyze the problems briefly and then submit their bids secretly. The highest bidder for each problem gets the exclusive right to solve it.

What if multiple teams bid the same amount?

In case of a tie, the team that submitted their bid first gets priority. The timestamp of bid submission is recorded in the system.

Can we use external resources or libraries?

Standard libraries of the programming language you choose are allowed. Internet access will be restricted, so you cannot search for solutions during the competition.

What strategy would you recommend for new participants?

For first-time participants, we recommend a balanced approach. Don't spend all your coins on one problem. Try to solve a mix of easy and medium problems first, and be strategic about when to bid on hard problems. Make sure to analyze the problem briefly before bidding.
