About the Event

The Project Expo is ACUMEN's premier platform for students to showcase their innovative technical projects to industry experts, faculty, and fellow students. This event celebrates creativity, technical acumen, and practical problem-solving by bringing together the brightest minds and their most impressive creations.

Participants will set up demonstration booths where they can display working prototypes, present their technical implementations, and explain their design processes. Projects can span a wide range of domains including software applications, hardware innovations, IoT solutions, AI/ML implementations, and more.

Projects will be evaluated within their respective categories, with category winners and overall winners selected based on technical merit, innovation, and implementation.

Submission Requirements

Pre-Event Submission

All teams must submit the following by March 31, 2025:

  • Project abstract (300-500 words) describing the problem, solution approach, and technology stack
  • Project poster in digital format (36" x 48", portrait orientation)
  • 2-minute video demonstration of the working prototype
  • GitHub repository link or equivalent code sharing platform (for software projects)
  • List of hardware/equipment requirements for demonstration (if applicable)

Expo Day Requirements

  • Working prototype or demonstration-ready project
  • Printed project poster for display
  • Presentation materials (slides, videos, etc.)
  • Required equipment (laptops, devices, cables, etc.)
  • Brief project documentation for judge review

Note: Standard tables, chairs, power outlets, and Wi-Fi will be provided at the venue. Any specialized equipment must be brought by the participants.

Technical Implementation (30%)

Quality of code, architecture, technical complexity, and execution

Innovation & Creativity (25%)

Originality of the idea, creative problem-solving, and innovative approaches

Impact & Utility (20%)

Problem relevance, potential benefits, scalability, and practical applications

Presentation & Demo (15%)

Communication skills, demonstration quality, and booth presentation

Documentation (10%)

Quality of documentation, clarity of project explanation, and process details

Judging Process

  • Morning round (9:30 AM - 12:30 PM): Initial evaluation of all projects
  • Open showcase (12:30 PM - 3:00 PM): Projects open to all attendees
  • Final round (3:00 PM - 4:30 PM): Detailed evaluation of shortlisted projects
  • Awards ceremony (4:30 PM): Announcement of winners

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I submit an academic project or thesis work?
Yes, academic projects, thesis work, and course projects are all eligible. However, the project should be in a functional state with a working demonstration, not just theoretical.
Is there any restriction on when the project was started?
No, there is no time restriction on when the project was started. However, projects must not have won awards at previous ACUMEN events or other major competitions.
Will we have internet access during the expo?
Yes, Wi-Fi access will be provided. However, we recommend having backup plans in case of connectivity issues, such as local installations, offline demos, or hotspot availability.
Can I participate in other events while displaying at the Project Expo?
Yes, but at least one team member must be present at your project booth at all times during the judging rounds. We recommend planning your event schedule accordingly to ensure proper coverage of your booth.
